It was still a great game, but getting the PC version and being able to mod it made it even better. MGE gives you all the fancy lighting effect, shaders, and distant land that brings it all to life.Īgain, here are some screenshots if you're still on the fence about 30MM, but I promise this is the easiest and quickest way to have a good looking game and get to what you really want to do - kill Cliffracers and N'wahs.Bethesda's RPGs are all highly moddable, so when you're done checking out what Morrowind's mod community has to offer, head over to our list of and.Just between you and me, the first time I played Morrowind it was on an Xbox. Those high-res packs always make it more obvious that you're playing a decade old game because they try to hard to make it Skyrim 2.0. It's still beautiful and looks better than a weird mish-mash of high-res textures that look out of place. It makes the game look smoother and more artistic while retaining the look and charm of the original. Morrowind Watercolored runs the vanilla textures through a watercolor filter. Morrowind Watercolored and MGE are the key. Voila, you're done in like 30 minutes if you don't have to do much FPS tweaking in MGE.

You can replace all of the shaders with the STEP ones if you want, but I find them too bloom-y. The reflections seem much more real, and it is a great shader. (Optional) I recommend replacing the MGE Water Shader with the STEP Water Shader found here. Tweak MGE settings/shaders if you need performance, or crank it if your machine can handle it. Make sure you do check the Vurt's ESPs here. Run MGE XE with the settings stated on the Morrowind Watercolored page, and around 10-20 for Grass Density (it looks weird with Morrowind Watercolored if you set too much grass). Open the Morrowind Launcher and select all of the Data Files except for Vurt's Groundcover

Install Delayed Dark Brotherhood, Hold It, and the Solstheim Rumor Fix. I still much prefer Watercolored, as it is a lot smoother, but that is another option. Alternatively, you can try the Morrowind Enhanced Textures mod.

Install all the Morrowind Code Patch, Better Meshes plus Optimization, Patch for Purists, and Correct Meshes from the Morrowind Graphics Guide. It's quick, simple, stable, and looks great IMO without changing the art direction: So, here's my lore and vanilla friendly 30MM setup which is based on the Morrowind Graphics Guide. This setup should take only about 30 minutes so you can jump into Vvardenfell quickly. I keep commenting the same thing on these requests, so I've decided (with a push from u/gustawgnusny) to make 30MM its own post since it seems like this is something quite a few people want. I couldn't even get the installer to work on my latest install and it was extremely frustrating.Ģ.) People want something quick that doesn't take hours upon hours.ģ.) People want something that stays true to the lore and vanilla art direction. I've also noticed the same three things keep coming up in every thread:ġ.) The Overhaul is outdated, buggy, and a general pain.
